Such a small word. So difficult to say.

It gets sometimes stuck.

Sometimes morphed.

Sometimes mute.

Dizer sim quando se quer dizer não,

no es un problema de lengua

It is a problem of fronteras, boundaries, limites.

Este poema não se refere às palavras.

this poem is not about words

or the lack of them.

We think the inability to say no,

is a problem of expression,

miscommunication,

but it is more a self-love issue.

We say yes to everyone and only no to ourselves.

To deny ourselves the possibility to say no to others,

to draw a boundary in between, 

ensures our needs are never met.

Si apenas digo que no,

me encierro en mi mundo

mas se digo que sim sempre

então não resta mais mundo.

I kill my own universe when I open my doors completely.

Time, for humans, is a finite resource.

when all the sand falls down

on the other side of the hourglass,

there will be no more chances 

to grow or to experience pleasure,

or to just lie on the floor doing sweet nothings.

We mistake doing, with happiness.

We mistake people pleasing with success and love.

But people love scarcity.

They love us more when we are scarce.

We love ourselves more when we are present.

When we do the things that stir and excite us.

Saying no to others is a yes to create your own identity.

Yo te digo:

Cuida de tu tiempo 

e das tuas prioridades.

Respect yourself

and the rest will follow.

If someone’s love and respect depends

on your ability to give up on yourself,

then it was never love in the first place.

You are your biggest treasure.

Don’t forget: saying no to others

is sometimes the only way to say yes to yourself.
